The League of Women Voters of Weston

The League of Women Voters, a nonpartisan political organization, encourages the informed and active participation of citizens in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influences public policy through education, civil dialogue, and advocacy.

We are a group of women and men who believe in the power of voters to 'make a difference' and advocate for good government at the local, state, and national levels.

LWV HISTORY

The League of Women Voters of the United States was established in 1920, when the 19th amendment to the Constitution granted women the right to vote. It evolved from the Women's Suffrage Movement. The League of Women Voters of Connecticut (LWVCT) was formed in 1921; the Weston League in 1963.
